The foundation focuses on supporting underserved structural heart and critical care patients, as well as strengthening the communities in which Edwards employees live and work. Available Products:

Edwards donates surgical structural heart and critical care technologies to MAP. There are no quantity request limits for products available periodically. MAP will manage the periodically available product inventory to support as many humanitarian programs as possible.

Eligibility to receive donated products will be determined based on the completed eligibility forms. Continued eligibility will be dependent upon reports received and adherence to the stated guidelines and signed agreements. MAP policy does not allow for transport of medical products to any U.S.- embargoed country, or country’s subject to economic sanctions, e.g. Cuba, Syria, Iran and North Korea, without the requesting physician providing proof of having obtained the required licensing from the appropriate departments of the U.S. government. Additionally, Edwards donated products are not available for humanitarian programs serving China.

MAP will assess a service fee of $250 per shipment, however, Edwards Lifesciences Foundation grants will be used to pay for the costs of shipments from MAP to partners’ U.S. locations. Exceptions can be requested for Edwards Foundation to pay for costs of shipments to locations outside the U.S. Please complete the following documents and submit them to MAP International Customer Service. Eligibility:

As part of its Every Heartbeat Matters (EHM) charitable initiative, Edwards Lifesciences donates surgical heart valve and critical care technologies to MAP International to support EHM humanitarian work treating underserved structural heart and critical care patients outside the U.S. (Note: donated products are not available for use in the U.S.)

A licensed physician's signature and confirmation of physician’s hospital privileges to perform treatment with requested donated technologies are required to receive donated medical products so MAP can validate clinical expertise. This physician must attest and agree to program requirements including the following:

1. Physician is trained to use requested products

2. Read, sign, and adhere to commitments of the program’s MOU

3. Promise to not sell or exchange donated products for money or services

4. All medical treatment provided with donated products will be performed as a charitable act and no entity will seek payment or reimbursement for treatment involving donated product. If you have any questions about this requirement, please reach out to MAP International prior to applying to the program.

5. All received donated product will either be used and registered with Edwards or disposed of in an appropriate manner

6. Read and understand instructions for reporting adverse events or product complaints to Edwards related to donated product

7. Donated products may not be used to treat government officials or their family, hospital employees or their family, requestor’s employees or their family, or non-profit organization's employees or their family

Products available for humanitarian medical programs outside the U.S. include surgical aortic and mitral replacement heart valves, surgical mitral and tricuspid repair rings, hemodynamic monitoring systems and related critical care sensors.

At MAP International, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live. That’s why we’re committed to providing life-changing patient treatments to people in need around the world.

Our efforts have enabled us to provide critical medicines and health supplies to millions of people in 86 countries around the world. We’re also pleased to report that we increased our medicine delivery by $119 million from the previous year, totaling $745,372,921. Additionally, we provided $37,549,164 in disaster relief – a $24 million increase from 2021. Our mission is simple yet impactful: to provide essential medicines and health supplies to those in need so they can live life to the fullest.

In the fiscal year 2022 alone, we delivered over 16 million prenatal vitamins to 49 countries to support maternal and fetal health. We also provided over 119,000 oral rehydration salts, totaling nearly 3 million sachets, to 45 countries to help prevent dehydration. Additionally, we administered over 1.8 million deworming medications to patients in 15 countries and provided over 800,000 antibiotics to individuals in 57 countries. Through our Bringing Children Health (BCH) Program, we were able to reach over 324,000 children – an increase of over 243,000 from the previous year. By targeting our efforts where they’re needed most, we can make a real impact and improve the health and wellbeing of children around the world.

Edwards Lifesciences philanthropic initiative, Every Heartbeat Matters, focuses on impacting the lives of underserved patients around the world. As of 2020, the Every Heartbeat Matters community has impacted the global burden of heart valve disease by educating, screening and treating over 1.7 million underserved people. Now Every Heartbeat Matters is committed to improving the lives 2.5 million additional underserved structural heart and critical care patients by the end of 2025.
