Pakistan Update: 14 Million Affected as Rains Continue
MAP is responding with shipments of medicines and supplies to the region
MEHMOOD KOT, Pakistan - The latest government figures indicate that over 14 million people have been hit by Pakistan's worst floods in generations. Additionally, over 1200 have died as rains are continuing to fall over the northern parts of the country.
After almost four weeks of rains that have caused flooding throughout the countryside, washing away villages and farms, there is now an urgent need to scale up the response in Punjab and Sindh provinces, Pakistan's most populous regions.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs now estimates that up to 6 million people are in need of food assistance and other basic supplies.
