MAP International Again Meets Better Business Bureau's High Standards
For the third consecutive year, Medical Assistance Programs (MAP) International has achieved recognition as meeting the Better Business Bureau’s 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
“The evaluation process involves rigorous scrutiny of a charity’s governance, effectiveness, finances, solicitations and informational materials,” said Art Taylor, president and chief executive officer of the BBB’s Wise Giving Alliance. “The standards go far beyond what government regulators require.”
The BBB’s Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity Accountability were developed to assist donors in making sound giving decisions and to foster public confidence in charitable organizations. The standards seek to encourage fair and honest solicitation practices, promote ethical conduct by charitable organizations and advance the support of philanthropy.
“MAP International is committed to wisely using the resources provided by donors,” said Michael J. Nyenhuis, MAP International president and chief executive officer. “We always strive to act with integrity, honesty and openness while making financial decisions that best enable us to help save lives and alleviate the suffering of others.”
MAP has also been recognized for its charitable efficiency by other organizations such as Forbes Magazine and Charity Navigator. MAP provides full disclosure of its use of financial resources and regularly submits its records for independent review.
MAP International is a nonprofit agency that annually provides more than $300 million in donated medical products to people in developing countries. Its Atlanta relief office operates health clinics and healthcare programs throughout the developing world.
