Dr. Dan Murariu, a Romanian who attended Tulane University School of Medicine, created a foundation to serve the people of his home country by providing health care and educational opportunities for the poor in remote villages. In April, Dr. Mararui and a group of four other doctors, 17 medical students, two nurses and a social worker conducted a medical mission serving five rural villages at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains in the eastern part of the Romania.

On the most recent trip taken by members of the Hanna Project, twelve of MAP’s Travel Packs, each filled with about $12,500 of medication and supplies such as antibiotics, bandages and analgesics, were used to treat villagers in Doropo, Cote d’Ivoire. The team took enough medicine to leave some behind for local health workers who continue to operate the clinic throughout the year.

Immediately following a 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Indonesia, MAP dispatched a response team from its office on the island of Sumatra. The team established a temporary health clinic and provided medical care as well as high-nutrition bars and milk to children younger than 5. MAP shipped enough medical supplies to the area to treat 20,000 people.
