TRAVEL PACK PROGRAM
About
Our Travel Pack® Program for Medical Missions:
Physicians experienced in short-term medical
missions have helped design the MAP Travel Pack®, a program with
options for ordering either pre-packed assortments and/or customized orders,
all consisting of the most essential medicines and medical supplies for clinic
settings within the developing world. It is designed to relieve the time
consuming and lengthy process of identifying diseases common to developing countries
and then choosing appropriate medicines to take.
Since the inception of the Travel Pack®
in 1993, thousands have been shipped to physicians and healthcare professionals
helping to alleviate the suffering in more than 115 countries around the world.
The Travel Pack® program now consists
of three options to strategically meet the pharmacy needs of short-term medical
mission brigades:
The Travel Pack ORIGINAL®
The Travel Pack ORIGINAL® is the same
two-box offer that thousands of healthcare professionals have been using in
their short-term medical mission brigades for years. Please click here
to view more information on the Travel Pack ORIGINAL®.
The Travel Pack ESSENTIAL®
The Travel Pack ESSENTIAL® is a one-box offer
containing products that have been determined to be the most ESSENTIAL for
short-term medical missions, based upon valuable feedback from our experienced
MAP partners. Please click here to view more information on the Travel
Pack ESSENTIAL ®.
The Travel Pack EXTRA®
The Travel Pack EXTRA® is an option for
supplementing Travel Pack ORIGINAL® or ESSENTIAL® orders
with additional medicines and supplies not normally available through the
pre-pack options. Please click here to view more information on the
Travel Pack EXTRA ®.
Service
Fees:
While MAP International does not sell donated medicines and supplies,
MAP does require administrative service fees to assist with a portion of
the cost of staff and storage space as well as MAP’s computerized
systems for inventory management and distribution tracking. These service fees
are recognized by the U.S. Department of Treasury as a donation and are thus
eligible for inclusion in the donor’s U.S. tax deduction. The remaining portion
of the cost of processing, packing and shipping is subsidized through the
generosity of additional cash donations from individuals, churches and
foundations.
Payment:
Prepayment of the service fee must accompany your order and may be made by
check or credit card. Due to product dating and MAP policies regarding
donated medicines, cancellation or postponement of your mission trip will
necessitate the return of all MAP prepackaged materials for a credit toward
your next mission.
MAP recognizes that unforeseen events sometimes
cause last minute changes in the plans of medical mission teams. Due to product
dating and MAP policies regarding donated medicines, the cancellation, or
postponement, of your mission trip will necessitate the return of all MAP
prepackaged products for a credit toward your next mission, or a refund of the
tax-deductible service fees. However, only Travel Packs returned within 30
days of delivery will be eligible for the credit, or refund, less a $75
re-stocking fee.
Customs Information:
Customs documents, a notarized Gift Certificate and a Packing List are attached
directly to the pack.
Shipping Information:
UPS ground charges are included in the service fee for both the Travel Pack
ORIGINAL® and ESSENTIAL® orders. However, shipping
is additional to the Travel Pack EXTRA® service fees.
Expedited delivery is available for any Travel Pack order at an additional
charge, though additional time must also be allotted for Travel Pack EXTRA®
orders, due to the customized nature of the shipment. Multiple orders
may also require additional delivery time. Due to product dating
issues, Travel Packs may not be shipped by sea container. They are
intended for hand-carry, or airfreight shipment, only.
IMPORTANT
Contents of Travel Packs change every two to three
weeks and are posted on our website. The list of medicines you review may
be different than the medicines you actually receive unless you request an
updated list prior to your departure.
MAP ships the newest offer
according to the scheduled departure date. If a packing list of the
medicines is needed before the packs are scheduled to arrive, please contact
MAP either by phone or fax.
