MAP INTERNATIONAL'S HEALTH & HOPE BLOG

MAP International Mandatory Evacuation

IMG_1141.png

MAP’s international headquarters, located in Brunswick, Ga., is now officially closed since Coastal Georgia is under a mandatory evacuation order due to #HurricaneIrma. Despite being told to evacuate, a handful of devoted MAP employees worked Friday morning to ship out valuable relief items to Texas.

Others prepared #DisasterHealthKits and other goods to send to Irma affected locations in the US. The dedication and work ethic of MAP employees and volunteers never ceases to amaze me. We ask for your prayers for all those in the path of Hurricane Irma, as well as those still recovering from Hurricane Harvey.

The good news is that MAP was able to send more than 100 Medical Mission Packs to one of our partners in Haiti, @HopeforHaiti last week, and they arrived just days before the storm. We have over $30 million in medicines and health supplies on the way to Haiti right now to help with the devastation caused by Irma.

We are closely following the storm as it approaches Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina and will be providing Disaster Health Kits to the people affected by more of Irma’s wrath. Our remarkable volunteers joined us earlier this week to pack these kits as an act of love and compassion to the people who will be in dire need early next week.

MAP International is thankful that we have been given the ability to respond in Texas following Hurricane Harvey and that we are responding to Irma victims internationally and in the US. We can't thank our donors enough for their generosity that has allowed us to do so much. Please keep our team in your prayers as we evacuate and anxiously await the “all clear” to quickly return and provide medicines, health supplies and #DisasterHealthKits to those in need.
