Interagency Emergency Health Kits (IEHKs)

MAP's Interagency Emergency Health Kits (IEHKs) are comprehensive and vital medical kits designed to provide essential tools for medical professionals in underserved areas and emergency situations. These kits include a wide array of medical instruments and supplies, such as surgical aprons, stainless steel basins and cups, otoscope and stethoscope sets, various forceps and scissors, sterilizers, thermometers, timers, and much more. With the inclusion of advanced equipment like water filters and electronic weighing scales, the IEHKs enable medical practitioners to deliver quality healthcare to those in need during times of distress. The impact of these kits is immeasurable, as they empower healthcare providers to efficiently diagnose, treat, and care for patients, ultimately saving lives and alleviating suffering.

Disaster Health Kits (DHKs)

MAP's Disaster Health Kits provide crucial hygiene items like shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and more, offering comfort and dignity to those affected by disasters. With a comb, washcloth, deodorant, and a first aid kit included, these packs make a significant impact, supporting the well-being and resilience of disaster-affected communities during challenging times.

Disaster Response

Now more than ever, we must be ready for disaster to strike.

In war zones and flood zones, in the wake of earthquakes, hurricanes and pandemics, MAP mobilizes to get lifesaving medicine and desperately needed health supplies to our on-the-ground partners to aid survivors.

Emergencies are accelerating, so we must too.

In recent years, we have witnessed an increase in the frequency and severity of crises caused by climate-related threats and the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2023, 1960 volunteers donated 10,370 hours of their time to pack 83,530 Disaster Health Kits. Each kit is equipped with first aid supplies and hygiene products to support survivors for an entire week after a disaster strikes. 104,020 disaster health kits were delivered in 2023.

In addition, MAP sent 5 Interagency Emergency Health Kits to 4 countries. Each IEHK contained a comprehensive variety of medicines equipped to serve 10,000 people for 90 days. These essential supplies empower healthcare providers to efficiently diagnose, treat, and care for people fleeing crisis situations.

READY

While we can’t prevent disasters, our decades of experience has taught us how to prepare for them. We proactively identify factors that lead to disease outbreaks and take steps to minimize their impact.

In conflicts and man-made disasters like the war in Ukraine, we strengthen supply chains and collaborate with other organizations dedicated to disaster response and healthcare. As human activity worsens climate change, natural disasters are becoming more frequent and severe.

MAP International is leading the way as disaster readiness becomes crucial for survival.
