Global Impact of 2022

At MAP International, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live. That’s why we’re committed to providing life-changing patient treatments to people in need around the world.

Our efforts have enabled us to provide critical medicines and health supplies to millions of people in 86 countries around the world. We’re also pleased to report that we increased our medicine delivery by $119 million from the previous year, totaling $745,372,921. Additionally, we provided $37,549,164 in disaster relief – a $24 million increase from 2021. Our mission is simple yet impactful: to provide essential medicines and health supplies to those in need so they can live life to the fullest.

In the fiscal year 2022 alone, we delivered over 16 million prenatal vitamins to 49 countries to support maternal and fetal health. We also provided over 119,000 oral rehydration salts, totaling nearly 3 million sachets, to 45 countries to help prevent dehydration. Additionally, we administered over 1.8 million deworming medications to patients in 15 countries and provided over 800,000 antibiotics to individuals in 57 countries. Through our Bringing Children Health (BCH) Program, we were able to reach over 324,000 children – an increase of over 243,000 from the previous year. By targeting our efforts where they’re needed most, we can make a real impact and improve the health and wellbeing of children around the world.

Thanks to our dedicated team and generous supporters, we’re able to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Join us in our mission to create a healthier, more equitable world today.

The need: Getting lifesaving medicine to underserved communities

The statistics are shocking: Two billion people lack access to medicine that we in the U.S take for granted. Sadly, many of them are children.

In the developing world, one in five children in Africa do not live to see their fifth birthday, often dying from infections or illnesses that could have been treated with a few dollars’ worth of medicine.

Together, we can change that! With your help, we could raise a total of $500,000 to provide treatments such as lifesaving pediatric antibiotics and oral rehydration solutions for children with life-threatening conditions, or chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease and asthma in countries around the world! For example:

Providing more than 909,090 full treatments of pediatric antibiotics to children with life-threatening infections

50,000,000 treatments of prenatal vitamins to help increase the number of healthy births and babies around the world

Community Based Interventions Help Prevent Malnutrition

The situation in Burkina Faso continues to grow increasingly dire. The United Nation’s Childrens Fund reports that armed conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics have left more than 6.3 million people,
including 3.4 million children, in need of humanitarian assistance. MAP works directly with the local health districts to conduct community-based interventions to prevent malnutrition and increase access to
treatments, including oral rehydration solution (ORS) and vitamins

“I was able to get the medicine from the health center for free for my child, and his situation has improved. Without the donation, I must go to a pharmacy to buy which is not easy for us due to the cost. I am IDP (internally displaced person) and we need everything.” Ouedrago Fati

Delivering Lifesaving Chronic Disease Medicine to Those Who Need It Most

“We can’t do this without the medicine.”

That’s what many health professionals told MAP when we visited a primary care clinic located in Batey 412, one of the poorest and most underserved communities in the Dominican Republic. Home to Haitians who have fled their country, the community has very limited access to even the most basic healthcare and education.

Chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and kidney disease are prevalent. Because of shortages, the clinic relies on medical mission teams and donated medicine. MAP works to provide consistent access to lifesaving medicine and health supplies to address inequities faced by these communities.

Healthy Moms, Healthy Kids: Prenatal Vitamins and Antibiotics

The MAP team had a chance to visit several program sites in El Salvador to see MAP medicine in action, including programs that focus on mothers and children. MAP’s donations of prenatal vitamins, oral rehydration
solution (ORS), deworming tablets, and pediatric antibiotics can supply healthcare treatments needed by entire communities.

“Around the world, half of children who die have malnutrition as an underlying cause. Almost half of childhood mortality from acute illness in low-to-middle income countries occur post-hospitalization, with
malnutrition being the number one retrospective indicator of which children would die,” Brooke Allison, MAP International Director of Programs
