MAP International is a Christian organization providing life-changing medicines and health supplies to people in need.
As good stewards of God's gifts, we are transparent in our mission, our work, our finances and our operations.
“We find MAP International to be professionally managed and a leader in their industry. I would estimate that MAP would rank in the top 5 percent of our clients in quality of financial reporting, management and board leadership.” - Daniel M. Campbell, Partner at CapinCrouse LLP
CNBC's Top Ten Charities in The World: These charities are household names and with good reason. They manage to do exceptional work both at home and abroad, all while maintaining top-notch financial management and transparency standards.
Fast Company magazine: The work of MAP International flies under the radar most donations directly into their good work—and not into glossy marketing materials. Founded in 1954, they provide humanitarian assistance and medicines to those in need in more than 100 countries.
Forbes magazine: “Another way to target your disaster-relief donations is by contributing to well-run charities that are all about that need. A good rule of thumb for charity efficiency: Look for one spending less than 20% of revenue on overhead costs.”
MAP International is recognized as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your gifts to MAP are tax-deductible in the United States For more information about our financial or non-profit status, you can contact us by phone 800-225-8550 or e-mail us.
Since MAP International was founded more than sixty-four years ago, we have been known as an organization that delivers quality medicines to those in need with remarkably low overhead. In 2017, MAP impacted the lives of 14.3 million people by providing millions of healing doses of medicines as well as much-needed health supplies to 93 countries around the globe. We did this all with a staff of fewer than 50 people in the US and 110 people internationally.
MAP is able to deliver so much medicine at low cost because pharmaceutical companies donate many of the products we send overseas. These are new, unexpired medicines that are desperately needed by people in many parts of the world. MAP also purchases medicines when necessary to meet specific needs.
MAP carefully procures these medicines and makes sure they meet the highest quality standards. In addition, we use standards set by ECFA (the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability), ACCORD network, PQMD (Partnership for Quality Medical Donations), and other organizations, and we comply with all generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). MAP has used an outside accounting firm to audit its books and valuation practices for more than two decades and has consistently received clean audits and high praise for our financial accountability and our transparency.
We care deeply about those whose lives we are able to improve through our mission. And we also care deeply about our donors, who often give sacrificially to this mission. We do not take their trust for granted.
Recently the California Attorney General’s office filed an administrative action against MAP and several others concerning the way we, along with most other similar charities, value the medicines donated to our organization. We are currently appealing this action and believe that it will be resolved soon.
