MAP International Healthcare Fellowship Program
The MAP Healthcare Fellowship is designed for emerging healthcare professionals who are passionate about serving others through global health. Whether pursuing a career in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, allied health, or therapy services, Fellows share a common commitment to learning, serving, and making a meaningful impact in communities around the world.
Successful applicants demonstrate a heart for global health, a desire to grow through immersive service experiences, and a willingness to contribute their skills where healthcare access is limited. Fellowship placements provide opportunities to serve alongside healthcare providers and organizations working to bring hope, healing, and dignity to those in need.

Applicants
The Fellowship is open to students and graduates in health-related fields, including medicine, nursing, allied health, dentistry, pharmacy, and physical/occupational therapy.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to global health and be willing to provide details about their placement and responsibilities, as well as complete a post-trip report outlining their work, impact, and key lessons learned.
Applications must be submitted at least 90 days prior to the start of applicant’s field placement.
Scholarships are awarded only once per individual.

Placements
Applicants are responsible for securing their own mission placement and confirming their schedule prior to applying for the Fellowship.
Placements must be a minimum of 28 days in duration, and applicants are required to provide written confirmation of placement and service dates.
Placements must involve meaningful healthcare impact, with a strong preference for direct patient care experiences or clearly defined contributions to health systems, research, or implementation efforts.
Christian mission hospitals or healthcare facilities with strong Christian mentorship are preferred but not required.

Does this scholarship apply to church-led medical mission trips?
No, this scholarship is not a general travel grant. It is specifically intended for medical students, residents, and individuals pursuing a healthcare-related field of study. All placements must align with the program’s healthcare-focused criteria.
I plan to attend a medical language program and will spend some time in a clinic. Am I eligible
for the MAP Healthcare Fellowship?
No, the MAP Healthcare Fellowship is designed for direct patient care experiences. Programs primarily focused on classroom-based learning, such as language study, do not meet the core requirements— even if they include limited clinical exposure.
What is the application process like?
After submitting a complete online application, applicants can expect to receive a decision approximately 30 days prior to their departure date, provided they meet all eligibility requirements. If selected, scholarship funds are disbursed after the fellowship is completed and upon submission of a required post-trip report.
Can I receive the MAP Healthcare Fellowship more than once?
No, the MAP Healthcare Fellowship scholarship is awarded only once per individual.
What is required after completing the fellowship?
Following their placement, Fellows are required to submit a Post-Trip Report that includes details about their experience, photos, and examples of their impact. Fellows must also submit an ACH form. Scholarship funds are disbursed after all required materials have been received and approved.
What are the requirements for the MAP Healthcare Fellowship?
Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a program in a healthcare-related field, such as medicine, nursing, public health, or a similar discipline. Placements must involve meaningful healthcare impact, with a strong preference for direct patient care or clearly defined contributions to health systems, research, or implementation efforts.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to global health, provide details about their placement and responsibilities, have a placement 28 days in length and meet all application deadlines. Selected Fellows must also complete a post-trip report outlining their work, impact, and key learnings in order to receive scholarship funding.
I will be supporting health systems development and implementing healthcare solutions. Does this qualify for the MAP Healthcare Fellowship?
Yes, this type of placement may qualify. In addition to supporting medical students, the fellowship is open to individuals engaged in meaningful healthcare impact globally, including systems development, implementation, and research work. Applicants will be required to provide detailed information about their role, the systems or solutions implemented, and any related research or outcomes.
How far in advance should I apply before my trip?
To be considered, applications must be submitted at least 90 days prior to the start of your placement.
If I was not selected previously, can I apply again for a future trip?
Yes, applicants who were not selected may reapply for the MAP Healthcare Fellowship for a future placement.
