Why Medicine Matters: Ensuring Access to Medicine Worldwide

Sickness affects us all — young or old, rich or poor. But for 2 billion people, getting medicine is a challenge. While illness is universal, access to treatment is not. It’s time to close this gap and ensure everyone has the medicine they need to heal.

It doesn’t matter if you are old or young, rich or poor, all of us get sick. While sickness affects us all, there is one great disparity that impacts 2 billion people worldwide: access to medicine.

Not having access to medicine impacts all other areas of life.

Child development

250 million young children in low-income countries face the threat of inadequate development due to poor nutrition. At MAP, we offer nutritional supplements and oral rehydration solutions to vulnerable children. We believe all young ones deserve to receive the essential nutrition, hydration and access to essential medicines in developing countries to support healthy growth.

Life expectancy

Uneven access to medicine significantly shortens lifespans, especially for people in the developing world. At MAP, our work includes preventive care, chronic illness treatment, and antibiotics for infections. By ensuring access to these essentials, we contribute to longer, healthier lives for people.

Wealth access

Poverty restricts healthcare access. Those in poverty can’t afford necessary treatment when they fall ill. Our aim is to disrupt this cycle by granting access to vital medicine, enhancing health and well-being, and ultimately helping to alleviate poverty’s grip.

Education & growth

Illness is a common hinderance that keeps children from attending school. This in turn prevents parents from working and stunts community growth. What’s more, many of these issues could be prevented with basic medical treatments. By providing essential medicine like pediatric antibiotics, we allow more children to stay in school and receive the education they deserve.

Medicine changes everything.
For everyone.

Access to medicine creates a ripple effect of positive change. It not only improves individual health but also strengthens families and empowers entire communities. At MAP, we are committed to ensuring that essential medicines reach those who need them most, supported by accountable and transparent processes. Together, we can build healthier futures for children, families, and communities around the world.

For every child.

When children have access to medicine, they have more opportunities for school, experience better childhoods, and have brighter futures.

For every family.

When families have access to medicine, mothers have safer pregnancies, parents better care for their children, and families establish more financial security.

For every community.

When communities have access to medicine, there is a more prosperous workforce, larger economic growth, and people live longer, healthier lives.

MAP provides medicine and health supplies to meet the greatest global health needs.

Access to medicine means more than treatment — it means hope, dignity, and the chance for a healthier future. MAP’s mission is to provide life-changing medicines, medications and health supplies to those who need them most.
